What Lap covers

Lap keeps the photo workflow in one desktop app instead of splitting it across separate tools: import, browse by date, camera or location, albums, duplicate detection, face recognition and AI tagging, all working on files that stay in their own folders. The catalog is a local SQLite database and decoding uses LibRaw, libheif and FFmpeg, so RAW files and video sit in the same library as JPEG and HEIC.

Search is local as well. Text search runs on ONNX Runtime with CLIP and InsightFace models, so a description search or a face lookup happens on your own machine: no upload, no per-query cost and no account. The same build runs on macOS, Windows and Linux, and the project is licensed under GPL-3.0, so the license cannot be taken away later.
